About the role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Technician to join our team on a full-time basis at our Orchard Central Region location. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of building systems and equipment across our properties. As a Technician, you will play a crucial part in ensuring that all facilities operate smoothly and safely, directly contributing to the satisfaction and wellbeing of our residents and tenants. This position offers the opportunity to work with modern building systems and equipment whilst developing your expertise in a dynamic facilities management environment.

What you'll be doing

• Performing routine maintenance and inspections on building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment
• Responding promptly to maintenance requests and service calls from residents and tenants
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and implementing effective repairs
• Maintaining accurate records of all maintenance work carried out, including parts used and time spent
• Conducting preventative maintenance schedules to minimise downtime and extend equipment lifespan
• Assisting with emergency repairs and responding to urgent facility issues outside standard working hours when required
• Collaborating with contractors and external service providers to ensure quality workmanship and timely completion of projects
• Adhering to all health and safety regulations and company policies whilst performing work duties
• Maintaining a clean and organised workspace and ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained

What we're looking for

• Relevant technical certification or qualification in a trades discipline such as electrical work, plumbing, HVAC, or mechanical systems
• Proven experience working as a Technician or in a similar maintenance role within a facilities management or property management setting
• Strong knowledge of building systems, equipment operation, and general maintenance principles
• Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues independently
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with residents, colleagues, and external service providers
• A commitment to health and safety practices and the ability to work safely at heights and in confined spaces where applicable
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour, including lifting and carrying equipment
• Flexibility to work outside standard hours and respond to emergency situations as required
