What they need

Employment Opportunity: Ambulatory Technician

Employer: Rock Lane Management, LLC (d/b/a B.W. Furlong & Associates)

Employment start date: Immediate
Employment type: Hourly, full time

Who are we?

For over 40 years, B.W. Furlong & Associates has provided world-class equine veterinary services in Oldwick, NJ with additional locations in Ocala/Wellington, FL and Middleburg, VA.

We pride ourselves on being progressive leaders who deliver the ultimate in veterinary care with a team of 18 highly skilled clinicians, including specialists in internal medicine, reproduction, sports medicine, and surgery. The backbone of our practice are our veterinary assistants and technicians, who work to ensure that patients receive the highest level of veterinary care.

We invest in our team, fostering growth and skill development in a supportive atmosphere, and can proudly identify a number of technicians who have advanced into new roles throughout their time working in the practice. We encourage strong relationships through advanced training, team building activities, events, and a culture of open communication.

Where are we?

New Jersey is the east coast’s best kept secret, with our headquarters located in the idyllic countryside of Hunterdon County. The area offers easy access to New York City, Philadelphia, and the Jersey Shore along with hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, and riding trails and endless outdoor activities. Most staff live within a 30 minute drive of the practice and are able to commute without taking major highways. For those raising a family, a number of schools in the area offer award winning school systems.

What will you be doing?

As we have recently expanded our reproductive services, we are looking to immediately fill the role of an ambulatory technician for one of our reproduction veterinarians. Ambulatory Technicians assist veterinarians during farm visits in a number of ways: handling horses, setting up veterinary equipment, managing truck inventory, preparing patients for procedures, and billing. This position is well suited for someone with a background working in large equine barn settings, experience assisting veterinarians, or a licensed veterinary technician. We are happy to provide training for the right person; someone who has exceptional horsemanship and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will have a background in reproductive services, enjoy working closely with veterinarians and learning something new every day, and will have a passion for providing world class care for our patients and clients. We ask that you are dependable, responsible, and willing to work hard.

The schedule for this position is 5 days a week, for approximately 40-45 hours a week. Flexibility is necessary in order to accommodate staffing needs. Applicants should expect that peak hours will correspond with breeding season, which runs from approximately March through August. The position is full time and based year round in Oldwick, NJ. In the off-season (Sept-Feb) there will be opportunities to assist in various departments such as the hospital and imaging. As the needs of the practice fluctuates, the technician will have the opportunity to assist other veterinarians.

Our compensation package includes: hourly compensation starting at $21/hr, health and welfare benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, a student loan repayment program, 401k with 3% employer contribution, profit sharing, Paid Time Off (annual and CE), Employee Assistance Program, Long Term Disability insurance, license and association membership fees, CE annual allowance with paid time off, logo wear, and discounted veterinary products and services.
