Technician - Mechanical (Turbine)

Roles

To lead and supervise a group of team members in performing routine and non-routine mechanical maintenance work including daily maintenance, unit overhaul, system condition assessment and equipment repair work to fulfil Power Purchase Agreement.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Ensure all safety procedures are followed, proper tools are used, Personal Protection Equipment (“PPE”) are used and methods of handling of works are adhered.

2. Perform maintenance work planning, coordination and execution including Permit To Work (“PTW”) requisition and coordination with the other section (if required).

3. Lead and supervise a team or individual maintenance team to conduct monthly maintenance, Unit overhaul, repair works and perform equipment / system condition analysis.

4. Provide technical assistance and technical feedbacks (inclusive of initial troubleshooting within their capability) for effective maintenance planning and plant improvement to the Senior Engineers and the Section Head.

5. Liaise and coordinate with the suppliers and contractors during the maintenance work initiation, planning & execution.

6. Identify all the spares, materials and services required to perform all maintenance activities of the department.

7. Initiate purchase of materials and services required to perform all maintenance activities of the department.

8. Prepare and manage the overall maintenance budgetary and financial responsibilities of the department.

9. Plan and allocate resources effectively to accomplish the work and meet the department’s objectives and performance targets.

10. Manage the preparation and maintenance of reports necessary to carry out the functions of the department. Prepares periodic reports for the management as necessary or requested, to track strategic goal accomplishment.

11. Comply with all applicable SHEQ legal requirements and our stakeholders’ specifications by establishing policies, programmes and practices in order to conduct operations in a healthy, safe and environmentally sound manner with safety first, quality foremost & pursuing excellence.

12. To conform to statutory legal regulatory and legislation requirements such as OSHA, FMA, Employment Act, Electricity Supply Act 1994, ISO 9001/14001/OSHAS 18001 etc.

13. To perform other additional tasks that are relevant and necessary to accomplish the company overall objectives, which may be assigned from time to time.

Qualification and Competency (License)

1. Minimum Education Qualification required:

a) Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized higher learning institution.

2. Minimum Mandatory Competency (License) required:

a) Authorised Entrant & Standby Person for Confined Space (AESP).

3. Optional requirement or added advantage:

a) Competent Scaffolder Level 2 (CSL2 - Inspector).

b) Ultrasonic Testing Level 1 (UTLI).

Work Experience

1. Minimum years of working experience related to the work scope:

a) 7 years’ of working experiences in mechanical maintenance.

2. Work experiences required:

a) Knowledge in plant operations and maintenance on coal-fired power system and equipment will be an added advantage.
