What they need

Your job

Are you enthusiastic about working in a laboratory? Would you like your work to contribute to the safety of our food? And would you enjoy doing this as part of a friendly team where people work hard and have fun together? Then we are looking for you!

We are looking for an enthusiastic and accurate Chemical Analyst (MBO level) who feels at home in a dynamic laboratory and enjoys getting hands-on. You will join the Natural Toxins team, where we analyse food samples every day to detect toxins produced by plants, fungi and algae. Your work therefore directly contributes to food safety for both humans and animals.

What will you do?

As a Chemical Analyst specialising in natural toxins, you will perform analyses using standardised protocols. A key part of your work will involve analyses using modern LC-(HR)MS/MS measurement systems. You will report your analytical and research results to the project leader. As an analyst, you will work as part of an analytical team responsible for efficiently carrying out and reporting the analyses.

Every morning, our laboratory receives a variety of samples that need to be tested for different toxins. You will independently carry out the analyses according to established protocols and report the measurement results at the end of the day. Your tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Creating a work schedule;
  • Preparing and processing samples;
  • Performing measurements using our modern LC-(HR)MS/MS systems;
  • Processing and interpreting data.

Your team

You will join the Natural Toxins team, consisting of 23 colleagues who work every day to contribute to food safety. It is a professional team where collaboration, quality and enjoying your work are key

Your qualities

You work accurately and systematically, but you are also flexible. Naturally, you enjoy working in a laboratory. In addition, you have:

  • A completed MBO-level vocational education;
  • (Internship) experience in a laboratory environment;
  • Experience with LC-MS/MS is an advantage, but not a requirement – we are happy to teach you!

In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about language level B1.

We offer

Wageningen University & Research offers excellent terms of employment. A few highlights from our Collective Labour Agreement include:

  • working hours that can be discussed and arranged so that they allow for the best possible work-life balance;
  • sabbatical leave, study leave, and partially paid parental leave;
  • there is a strong focus on vitality and you can make use of the sports facilities available on campus for a small fee;
  • a fixed year-end bonus of 8,3%;
  • excellent pension scheme.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between €2.962,- and €3.728,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 6). Additionally, for this role a contract for 32 hours can be discussed. We initially offer a one-year contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and depending on the organisation’s financial situation.

We encourage development and internal mobility within our organisation. Our recruitment and selection policy sets out the conditions that apply specifically to you as a (former) employee. If you have any questions, we are happy to help.

Due to Dutch immigration laws, candidates from outside the EU/EFTA zone, can usually not be hired for this position. More information can be found on the website of the Dutch Immigration and Naturalization Service.
