Are you an experienced Motor Vehicle Technician looking for a new challenge where you can share your skills, shape future talent, and make a real difference?

Abingdon & Witney College is seeking a passionate and industry-experienced Instructor / Technician to join our thriving Motor Vehicle team. Working within our large multi-bay workshops, you will help develop learners' practical skills, support high-quality teaching and learning, and ensure our industry-standard facilities remain a safe and engaging environment for students. Our workshops feature professional-grade equipment and specialist tools designed to recreate a real garage environment, helping students gain the skills employers are looking for.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone currently working in the motor trade who wants to pass on their knowledge and experience to the next generation of technicians, mechanics and automotive professionals.

What you'll be doing

  • Delivering practical training and instruction to young people and adult learners.
  • Developing learners' technical and workshop skills.
  • Preparing, maintaining and repairing equipment and resources.
  • Supporting lecturers and curriculum activities across the department.
  • Supervising learners during practical sessions, enrichment activities and work experience.
  • Working closely with employers and industry partners to enhance learning opportunities.
  • Maintaining high standards of health and safety, workshop organisation and compliance.
  • Managing stock, inventories and equipment records.
  • Supporting risk assessments, COSHH processes and workshop safety procedures.

Why join our Motor Vehicle team?

Our Motor Vehicle provision offers learners the opportunity to study from Entry Level through to Level 3 qualifications in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. Students benefit from highly practical learning, industry-relevant projects, specialist diagnostic equipment and dedicated workshop facilities.

The department maintains strong links with the automotive industry, including relationships with leading employers and manufacturers, helping students gain valuable insight into career opportunities across the sector. Learners regularly work on a range of vehicles and utilise modern equipment in realistic workshop environments.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • A Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant Motor Vehicle discipline.
  • Ideally practical industry experience within the automotive sector.
  • Willing to work with young people aged 14-19.
  • Excellent communication and IT skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A current driving licence.
  • A commitment to maintaining excellent health and safety standards.

Why Work with Us
