Technology Director

POSITION PURPOSE:

The IT Director is accountable for achieving targets for delivery, reliability and continuous modernization of the Retail Applications portfolio aligning to strategic business objectives and operational strategies of the overall Global Tech & AI. The IT Director is expected to manage and develop partnerships and relationships with key internal customers and technology leaders to translate enterprise Retail priorities into secure, scalable, and customer-focused technology outcomes. This leader provides direction to the Philippines team for application delivery, service operations, financial management, talent development and organizational transformation.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Own the application operations strategy and delivery of the Retail application portfolio, ensuring alignment with enterprise business strategy, store priorities, customer experience goals, and technology standards.
• Provide overall leadership for operational management, product and application delivery, production support, modernization, technical debt reduction, and service improvement across assigned Retail capabilities.
• Develop and manage operating and capital budgets according to plan. Optimize total cost of ownership through disciplined financial governance, sourcing, vendor management, application rationalization, and value realization.
• Establish and monitor portfolio, delivery, and service KPIs. Use data to improve predictability, quality, availability, resilience, customer experience, productivity, and speed to value.
• Ensure service levels are achieved, adverse business impacts are minimized, and major incidents are managed with urgency, transparent executive communications, effective root-cause analysis, and sustainable corrective actions.
• Champion secure, resilient, scalable, and supportable solutions. Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, privacy, audit, change management, accessibility, and operational-readiness requirements.
• Drive modernization through cloud adoption, platform simplification, automation, observability, integration modernization, data enablement, and responsible use of AI where these approaches improve business and operational outcomes.
• Lead governance for delivery, quality, release readiness, service transition, risk acceptance, and portfolio performance while avoiding unnecessary process overhead.
• Direct, coach, and mentor the leadership team. Set clear goals, build succession plans, strengthen critical skills, recognize performance, and foster an inclusive culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and customer service.
• Lead organizational change and help teams adopt new operating models, engineering practices, and ways of working. Champion change, address resistance constructively, and sustain engagement through transformation.
• Collaborate across onshore and offshore technology teams, including enterprise architecture, infrastructure and cloud, cybersecurity, data, integration, digital, supply chain, service management, and program delivery.
• Develop strategic partnerships with software providers, systems integrators, and managed-service partners. Hold vendors accountable for delivery, quality, innovation, commercial commitments, and service performance.
• Act as a senior escalation point and represent the Retail application organization with executives, business partners, auditors, and external partners.
• Support employee safety, welfare, wellness, and health, and perform other responsibilities assigned by the General Manager or Vice President.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline. A master’s degree is preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive professional experience in enterprise information technology, including significant leadership responsibility for large-scale retail or consumer-facing application portfolios.
• Proven experience leading senior managers, people leaders, product or application teams, and highly skilled individual contributors in a matrixed, onshore and offshore environment.
• Strong retail domain knowledge across capabilities with core in point of sale, payments and store operations is preferred
• Demonstrated success developing multi-year application strategies and roadmaps, governing portfolios, and delivering programs or running operations with measurable business outcomes.
• Experience managing operational and project budgets, vendor and contract performance, capacity planning, sourcing decisions, and technology investment prioritization.
• Strong knowledge of application architecture, cloud and integration patterns, APIs, data platforms, cybersecurity, resilience, observability, automation, and modern engineering practices.
• Working knowledge of Agile, product operating models, DevSecOps, software delivery lifecycle practices, and ITIL disciplines including Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration, and Service Level Management.
• Excellent executive communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work effectively across business and technology organizations.
• Demonstrated integrity, confidentiality, inclusive leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to resolve complex issues strategically and efficiently.
