Our client is seeking a Technology Risk Advisor to evaluate complex technology environments, identify potential risks, and provide actionable insights that improve system reliability, engineering practices, and technology delivery.

The role requires a strong technical foundation and the ability to work directly with engineers and technology leadership to understand how critical systems are designed, developed, integrated, and maintained.

The ideal candidate combines technical curiosity, analytical thinking, and business awareness. This individual will assess system architecture, engineering processes, and technology initiatives to identify vulnerabilities, challenge existing approaches, and recommend practical improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Architecture & Risk Assessment

• Evaluate system architecture, integrations, dependencies, and alignment with business objectives.
• Assess distributed systems, APIs, CI/CD pipelines, resilience, availability, and overall platform reliability.
• Partner with engineering teams to understand system design, data flows, and potential points of failure.
• Identify technology risks involving system integrations, third-party dependencies, and architectural decisions.
• Evaluate engineering practices and technical controls to identify opportunities for improvement.

Engineering Processes & Delivery

• Assess how technology initiatives are planned, prioritized, developed, and delivered.
• Evaluate Agile, DevOps, and software development practices to identify operational and delivery risks.
• Analyze how technology execution aligns with organizational priorities and strategic objectives.
• Review engineering performance metrics to determine whether they accurately reflect system reliability, delivery effectiveness, and business outcomes.

Data Analysis & Emerging Technologies

• Leverage data analytics, modern technology tools, and AI-assisted analysis to identify patterns, weaknesses, and emerging risks.
• Use AI tools to evaluate complex technical information, uncover potential risks, and improve the efficiency of risk assessments.
• Develop evidence-based recommendations to strengthen technology platforms and engineering processes.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication

• Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and technology leadership to assess complex technical environments.
• Translate technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and business stakeholders.
• Present risk assessments and improvement opportunities to senior engineering and technology leaders.
• Influence technology decisions through technical credibility, analytical insights, and effective communication.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in software engineering, technology risk assessment, platform engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong understanding of modern software development practices, including Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and distributed systems.
• Ability to evaluate system architecture, technical dependencies, integrations, and engineering processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify risks in complex technology environments.
• Interest in leveraging AI, data analytics, and modern tools to improve technology risk assessments and decision-making.
• Ability to balance technical considerations with broader business objectives.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence senior technical leaders.
• Strong academic background, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related analytical discipline.
