Position Overview:

Guilford Preparatory Academy is seeking an innovative and tech-savvy K-8 Technology Teacher to equip students with essential digital literacy skills. The ideal candidate will provide engaging instruction in computer science, coding, digital citizenship, and technology applications, fostering students' creativity and problem-solving abilities. This role requires a dynamic educator who can integrate technology into learning and prepare students for success in an increasingly digital world.

Key Responsibilities:Instruction & Curriculum Development:

• Develop and implement a technology curriculum that aligns with state and national standards.
• Teach students fundamental computing skills, including keyboarding, word processing, and internet safety.
• Introduce coding, robotics, and STEM-related activities to enhance problem-solving and critical thinking.
• Foster responsible digital citizenship by teaching online safety, cybersecurity, and ethical technology use.
• Integrate project-based learning and real-world applications of technology.

Classroom & Student Management:

• Establish a structured, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
• Encourage collaboration and innovation through hands-on technology projects.
• Ensure students understand and follow ethical and responsible technology use.
• Maintain classroom technology, troubleshooting minor issues and reporting major concerns.

Collaboration & Professional Growth:

• Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to integrate technology into other subject areas.
• Provide professional development and support to faculty on educational technology tools.
• Stay updated on emerging educational technology trends and best practices.
• Engage with parents and the community to promote technology learning beyond the classroom.

Assessment & Student Growth:

• Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments.
• Provide constructive feedback to support digital literacy and computational thinking skills.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and participation.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Computer Science, Instructional Technology, or a related field.
• Valid teaching license or certification (or eligibility to obtain one).
• Experience in coding, robotics, or STEM education is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of educational technology tools, Google Workspace, and learning management systems.
• Previous teaching experience in a K-8 setting preferred.
• Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Passion for integrating technology into student learning.
