Temporary Accountant – Short-Term Contract

About the role

Nexus Stone Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and reliable Accountant to join the team on a temporary basis, providing cover while the current accountant is on leave. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who can step into an established finance function, work independently and ensure the smooth continuation of day-to-day accounting and payroll activities.

Key responsibilities

• Accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Bank and credit card reconciliations
• Processing and managing payroll
• Superannuation and employee entitlements
• Preparing and lodging BAS
• Maintaining accurate financial records in Xero
• Supplier and customer account reconciliations
• Managing payments and following up outstanding accounts
• Assisting with month-end reporting
• General accounting and finance administration

About you

• Solid accounting/bookkeeping experience
• Highly proficient in Xero
• Good knowledge of Australian payroll, superannuation and BAS requirements
• Confident working independently and taking ownership of the accounts function
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Able to quickly learn existing processes and systems
• Reliable, professional and comfortable working in a busy business environment
• Experience within the construction, manufacturing or stone industry would be advantageous but is not essential
