Temporary Pearson Press Brake Setter / Operator — Immediate Start

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Temporary Press Brake Setter / Operator to join our manufacturing team immediately. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating press brake machines to bend and shape sheet metal components with precision and efficiency. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in fabrication processes, working with various tools and materials to produce high-quality metal parts. Your proactive attitude and mechanical aptitude will contribute significantly to our production goals while ensuring safety and quality standards are maintained.

Responsibilities

• Set up press brake machines according to specifications, ensuring correct tooling and adjustments for each job
• Operate press brakes safely and efficiently to bend sheet metal components to precise dimensions
• Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, and adherence to technical drawings
• Make necessary adjustments during production runs to maintain quality and throughput
• Use hand tools, measuring devices, and basic math skills to verify dimensions and tolerances
• Assist with material handling, including loading raw sheet metal and unloading finished products
• Maintain a clean, organized work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times

We are looking for an experienced setter/operator to provide temporary cover on our 4-metre manual Pearson press brake, producing metal components for the commercial vehicle industry.

Experience setting and operating a manual Pearson press brake, or a comparable manual machine, is essential. CNC-only experience is not sufficient.

Duties

• Set tooling and operate the Pearson press brake safely.
• Read engineering drawings and form parts to specified dimensions.
• Work with mild steel, galvanised steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
• Check bend angles, dimensions and finished quality.
• Complete small batches and repeat production work.
• Handle materials safely and keep the work area tidy.

Requirements

• Proven manual press brake setting and operating experience.
• Understanding of tooling, bend allowances and tolerances.
• Ability to work independently following induction.
• Reliable attendance and attention to safety and quality.
• Guillotine experience would be an advantage.
