We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Teacher Librarian to join our Learning Resources Department at Ravenswood on a temporary, full-time baisis. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire students as readers, researchers and independent learners, while collaborating with teachers to enrich teaching and learning across Years 7–12.

Teacher Librarian is an integral role, working closely with the Head of LRC and teaching staff to develop engaging literature, research and information programs that support the NESA and IB curriculum and reflect the School’s educational mission.

Role Responsibility

  • Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and deliver inquiry, information literacy and literature programs that support curriculum outcomes
  • Promote information literacy and the ethical and critical use of information across the curriculum
  • Develop programs, events, displays and activities that encourage reading and foster a love of literature
  • Curate high-quality print, digital and online resources to support teaching and learning
  • Support the effective use of ICT, including ClickView, online databases and library systems
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive and engaging LRC environment that encourages independent learning and creativity
  • Provide library, advisory and reference services, including circulation, cataloguing, accessioning and stocktake as required
  • Supervise and support students within the LRC, including during recess, lunch and before or after school as required
  • Contribute to LRC policies, procedures and the effective day-to-day operation of the LRC
  • Build positive and professional relationships with students, staff and parents, with a strong commitment to student wellbeing and safeguarding
  • Contribute to the wider life of the School through co-curricular activities and professional collaboration
  • Maintain current knowledge of educational practice, Young Adult literature, reading and information literacy
  • Demonstrate flexibility, creativity, exceptional organisational skills and an open mindset towards technology, innovation and professional learning
  • A Diploma of Education or equivalent and a Master of Education (Teacher Librarianship), together with eligibility for professional membership of ALIA, are required/desirable as applicable.
  • While this is primarily a Senior Teacher Librarian role, a willingness to work in the Junior Library is desirable.

The successful applicant will bring a genuine passion for literature, literacy and education, together with creativity, strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to fostering curiosity, critical thinking and a lifelong love of learning.
