Tent & Temporary Structure Installation Technician

Job Overview

The successful candidate will assist with the installation, assembly, modification, maintenance, and removal of large temporary structures and containment/tent systems used in marine and shipyard construction projects.

This is a hands-on position suited for someone with experience installing commercial event tents, temporary structures, construction enclosures, scaffolding, rigging systems, or similar structures.

Duties

• Assemble and install large temporary tent and structural systems.
• Install structural beams, frames, roof systems, sidewalls, and related components.
• Assist with anchoring, securing, and tensioning temporary structures.
• Work from drawings, installation instructions, and manufacturer's specifications.
• Safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and other equipment.
• Assist with material handling and positioning of structural components.
• Work as part of a crew to complete installations safely and efficiently.
• Inspect completed installations and identify potential safety or quality issues.
• Assist with modifications, repairs, dismantling, and relocation of temporary structures.
• Follow IFPC safety procedures and shipyard access requirements.
• Work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
• Perform other construction and shipyard duties as assigned.

Skills

• Previous hands-on installation or construction experience preferred.
• Ability to safely lift, carry, and position construction materials and equipment.
• Ability to work at heights and in an industrial/shipyard environment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a crew.
• Must be able to meet applicable shipyard access and security requirements.
• OSHA, forklift, rigging, scaffold, or other applicable training/certifications are a plus.

IFPC is a marine construction and ship-repair contractor serving the Hampton Roads area. This position provides an opportunity to apply your existing tent, construction, or temporary-structure experience to large-scale marine and shipyard projects.

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Commercial or tent installation: 2 years (Required)
• Steel or aluminum structural assembly: 2 years (Required)
• large-span or clear-span tent structures: 2 years (Required)
