POSITION SUMMARY
The Territory Sales Representative (TSR) is responsible for building PIRTEK Edison's customer base, developing a high-quality sales pipeline, and converting new opportunities into recurring business. This is a field-based, hunter-oriented role for someone who enjoys meeting customers, visiting jobsites and facilities, solving business problems, and closing new accounts.
Success in this role comes from disciplined prospecting, strong follow-up, consultative selling, and the ability to build trust with maintenance, fleet, operations, public works, and business leaders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Acquire new B2B accounts throughout the territory through field prospecting, cold and warm calling, referrals, networking, trade events, and targeted account development.
· Build and maintain a focused target-account pipeline across construction, heavy equipment, equipment rental, transportation and fleet, manufacturing, waste and recycling, municipalities/public works, utilities, material handling, and other hydraulic-intensive industries.
· Identify the appropriate decision-makers within each account and develop relationships with maintenance, fleet, operations, equipment, facilities, purchasing, and ownership contacts.
· Communicate PIRTEK Edison's value proposition: fast mobile response, onsite hose fabrication and replacement, reduced downtime, and 24/7/365 service availability.
· Convert prospects into active customers by coordinating introductions, site visits, vendor setup, pricing discussions, and first-service opportunities.
· Meet or exceed agreed sales, pipeline, and new-account goals while maintaining consistent prospecting activity throughout the territory.
· Maintain accurate records of customer visits, calls, opportunities, follow-ups, quotes, wins, losses, and next actions in the company's sales/operational systems.
· Develop territory plans, account strategies, and sales forecasts as requested; prioritize time and travel around the highest-value opportunities.
· Maintain post-sale relationships to support customer satisfaction, uncover additional needs, reactivate dormant accounts, and expand share of wallet.
· Coordinate closely with mobile service technicians and operations to ensure a smooth handoff from sales opportunity to service execution.
· Represent PIRTEK Edison professionally at local trade shows, association meetings, chambers, municipal events, and other relevant business-development opportunities.
· Adhere to all PIRTEK safety standards and customer/site-specific requirements.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
· Consistent creation of qualified opportunities and new customer accounts.
· Growth in territory revenue and gross profit from newly developed and expanded accounts.
· A healthy pipeline with clear next steps, disciplined follow-up, and accurate forecasting.
· Strong relationships with local decision-makers who view PIRTEK Edison as a trusted service resource and emergency backup partner.
· Efficient use of field time through targeted, geographically clustered prospecting and account planning.
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
· Strong B2B sales acumen with the ability to prospect, qualify, present value, negotiate, and close.
· Natural relationship builder who is comfortable speaking with everyone from technicians and shop managers to owners and executives.
· Persistent and resilient; able to navigate objections, long sales cycles, and repeated follow-up without losing momentum.
· Self-directed, organized, and accountable for managing a territory with minimal day-to-day supervision.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional, customer-first approach.
· Comfortable working in industrial environments, equipment yards, shops, warehouses, municipal facilities, and active jobsites.
· Mechanical curiosity and willingness to learn hydraulic and industrial hose applications; prior hose experience is not required.
QUALIFICATIONS
· High school diploma or GED required; college coursework or degree is a plus.
· Prior sales experience with a demonstrated record of meeting or exceeding goals.
· B2B outside-sales experience preferred; experience in industrial, mechanical, construction, equipment rental, fleet, MRO, or related markets is a strong plus.
· Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
· Ability to pass required background screening.
· Ability to safely navigate customer and industrial environments and occasionally handle materials or demonstration items up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a mobile, territory-based sales role. The TSR spends substantial time visiting customer locations, jobsites, shops, yards, and facilities throughout the service area. Work environments may vary in terrain, temperature, noise level, cleanliness, and available amenities. Occasional travel for PIRTEK training may be required at no cost to the employee.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
· Competitive base compensation with performance-based commission and/or bonus opportunity.
· Health, dental, and vision insurance.
· Paid time off and paid holidays.
· Certified PIRTEK training, ongoing sales development, and access to technical support resources.
· Company-provided uniforms and business-development tools as applicable.
· Career-growth opportunity within a growing local operation and the broader PIRTEK network.
