Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to help drive the quality engineering and test automation strategy for our software products. This is a hands-on technical role focused on designing scalable automation frameworks, developing automated tests, improving testability, and integrating quality engineering throughout the software development lifecycle.

The SDET will work closely with Software Engineers, Product, DevOps, Architecture, and other technology teams to build reliable automated testing solutions and ensure applications meet functional, performance, security, and reliability expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks, libraries, utilities, and reusable testing components.
• Define and implement automation strategies across UI, API, integration, database, and end-to-end testing.
• Develop automated tests using technologies such as Selenium, Java, Python, C#, JavaScript, JUnit, and TestNG.
• Build automated testing for web applications, REST APIs, backend services, databases, and system integrations.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to provide rapid feedback and identify defects earlier in the software development lifecycle.
• Partner with Software Engineers to improve application testability, observability, reliability, and automation coverage.
• Review application architecture and technical requirements to identify appropriate test approaches, integration points, dependencies, and potential quality risks.
• Develop test utilities for test-data creation, environment validation, API testing, database validation, service virtualization, and automated regression testing.
• Perform technical analysis and troubleshooting of complex defects across UI, API, application, integration, and database layers.
• Analyze automated test failures, application logs, API responses, database results, and system behavior to identify root causes.
• Improve automation reliability by identifying and eliminating flaky tests, unstable dependencies, inefficient test execution, and framework limitations.
• Establish technical standards for automation architecture, coding practices, test design, code reviews, and framework maintainability.
• Measure and improve automation coverage, regression execution time, defect detection, test reliability, and overall quality engineering effectiveness.
• Evaluate and implement new testing tools and technologies that improve engineering productivity and software quality.
• Contribute to performance, security, accessibility, and reliability testing as appropriate for application architecture.
• Participate in Agile development activities including technical design reviews, backlog refinement, sprint planning, code reviews, defect triage, and release-readiness validation.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in software development, test automation, SDET, or quality engineering.
• Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript.
• Strong hands-on experience with test automation technologies such as Selenium WebDriver, JUnit, TestNG, or comparable frameworks.
• Experience designing and developing automation frameworks from the ground up, including reusable libraries, reporting, test-data management, and configuration management.
• Strong experience with REST API testing, including request/response validation, authentication, authorization, error handling, and integration testing.
• Experience performing SQL and database validation and troubleshooting data across application, API, and database layers.
• Experience integrating automated tests with CI/CD pipelines and source-control platforms.
• Understanding of modern software architectures, including web applications, RESTful services, microservices, databases, cloud services, and distributed integrations.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, including object-oriented programming, design patterns, source control, code reviews, and coding standards.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum software development environments.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and root-cause analysis skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Software Engineers, DevOps, Architecture, Product, and other technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or comparable CI/CD platforms.
• Experience testing applications built with .NET, React.js, Java, or similar modern technology stacks.
• Experience with Azure or other cloud platforms, including testing cloud-hosted applications and services.
• Experience with Azure Blob Storage, SQL Server, Salesforce, and enterprise system integrations.
• Experience with performance and load-testing technologies such as JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with containerized and distributed environments using technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience incorporating automated quality gates into deployment pipelines.
• Knowledge of application security testing and secure software development practices.
• Experience using Generative AI and AI-assisted development tools to accelerate test generation, automation development, debugging, and test maintenance.
• Knowledge of testing approaches for AI/ML applications and models.
• ISTQB or other relevant technical testing certifications are a plus.
