Test Engineer

Job Objective

The Test Engineer is responsible for self-reliant planning, organization, realization of testing, as well as documentation, evaluation and (internal) communication of test results. Furthermore, the Test Engineer is the connection to external lab (third party) in regards of executing tests at external sources.

Description Of Main Tasks

• Capacity planning of test equipment based on input of test orders, Material Lab Engineer or Acoustics Engineer
• Planning of work steps and testing based on input of test orders and in consultation with Material Lab Engineer or Acoustics Engineer
• Taking responsibility for timely and qualitative delivery of the test results based on capacity planning; actively feedback in terms of timing conflict
• Preparation of test specimen and preconditioning
• Managing if needed fixture or supporting devices in cooperation with requestor of test
• Executing of Testing
• Documentation of test results and preparing / providing them to Material Lab Engineer or Acoustics Engineer for test report writing
• Writing of test reports (based on ability and capacity), to be released then by Material Lab Engineer
• Taking care of testing equipment including internal maintenance, coordination of external maintenance and calibration
• Taking responsibility for keeping lab in good order and maintenance and general safety of lab
• Monitoring of testing equipment / test benches
• Assistance with planning and realization of testing methods and test benches, especially for new / special customer requests
• Preparing, packing and sending of samples to external laboratories / partners
• Communication with third parties regarding external testing
• Responsible for returning of samples to requestor and / or disposal of samples after testing finished

Additional Tasks

• Maintaining results database
• Participating in project and tasks of skill improvement of whole Department
• Mentoring interns who assist in testing
• Special tasks assigned by the manager

Skills & Competencies

• Bachelor in technical field related to materials / acoustics / Chemistry / Lab
• Alternatively: apprenticeship and adequate work experience in relevant field
• Technical understanding (technical standards, machine documents, ….)
• Good technical learning ability and open minded / interested in new tasks
• Proactive and self-organized working style
• Sense of responsibility
• Being able to cooperate and communicate in interdisciplinary teams
• English language on B1-B2 level (advanced - independent usage of language; Is able to communicate spontaneously and fluently)
• Local language on C1-C2 level (person is able to express himself/herself spontaneously, fluently and precisely)

• Functional and disciplinary reporting to: Teamleader Advanced Development & Validation (CN) / Head of Product Development Americas (based on Orga-Chart)

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
