Test Lead - ERP Implementation

Take ownership of testing for a significant ERP implementation, helping business teams prepare, test confidently and build readiness for go-live.

Our client is seeking an experienced Test Lead to establish and coordinate testing across an ERP programme already underway. This is an opportunity to shape the testing approach, bring structure to delivery and work closely with the people who understand the business and its processes.

South Island is the preferred location, with flexibility to work remotely alongside some travel to South Canterbury. Being onsite during key testing cycles will be an important part of the role.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you’ll work across business analysts, subject matter experts, process owners and the implementation partner’s functional team. You’ll own the testing framework and coordination, with business subject matter experts carrying out the bulk of test execution. There are no direct reports.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Establishing a practical testing methodology and approach for the programme.
• Developing test scenarios and scripts that reflect business processes and requirements.
• Coordinating test preparation and execution with subject matter experts and process owners.
• Providing guidance to business users participating in testing.
• Monitoring progress, reporting outcomes and highlighting risks or gaps.
• Tracking defects and coordinating follow-up with business and implementation teams.
• Keeping testing activity aligned with programme milestones and priorities.

You’ll bring proven experience leading testing within ERP implementations and the depth of knowledge to work independently. You’ll be comfortable creating structure, making practical decisions and keeping people engaged without relying on formal authority.

Strong communication and relationship skills will be essential. We’re looking for someone who can bring people together, explain what’s needed clearly and work constructively through issues. You’ll also need to adapt as priorities change and balance testing requirements with the demands on business teams.

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations would be an advantage, alongside familiarity with Azure DevOps. However, experience with other ERP platforms and test management tools is also relevant.

The preferred arrangement is an approximately 12-month fixed-term appointment, although contracting may be considered for the right person. An early start would be ideal, with notice periods considered.
