Job Summary

We are seeking experienced Senior Test Technicians to join our test operations team. This posting is open to candidates at Level III (senior) or Level IV (expert/lead) based on qualifications. You will perform advanced environmental and functional testing of aerospace hardware including thermal vacuum (TVAC), vibration, EMI, and high-pressure testing. These are critical roles working independently on flight hardware with minimal supervision.

Level III candidates work independently on complex test operations with full understanding of test procedures and equipment. Level IV candidates additionally demonstrate leadership, mentor junior technicians, interface directly with engineering, and serve as subject matter experts. Both levels offer advancement paths within ExoTerra's test organization, with Level IV being a pathway to Lead Technician positions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently set up and execute complex test configurations for environmental and functional testing.
  • Conduct thermal vacuum, vibration, EMI, and high-pressure testing on aerospace hardware.
  • Operate and maintain advanced test equipment (mass spectrometers, vacuum chambers, thermal chambers, vibration systems, high-pressure systems).
  • Perform advanced hardware integration, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Analyze test data and identify anomalies requiring investigation.
  • Support test procedure development and work instruction updates.
  • Train and guide junior technicians on test procedures and equipment operation.
  • Coordinate with engineering on test requirements and technical issues.

Additional Level IV Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage task lists, prioritizing work based on daily/weekly company priorities.
  • Interface directly with engineering teams to coordinate requirements and resolve technical issues.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior technicians; review and validate work quality.
  • Contribute to process improvements and technical documentation.
  • Represent test operations in cross-functional meetings and design reviews.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for test operations and equipment.

Required Qualifications

All Candidates:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Knowledge of high-pressure system handling and operation.
  • Experience troubleshooting test anomalies and equipment issues.
  • Current certifications (Cleanroom, ESD, FOD, IPC-610/620, J-STD, etc.).
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Level III:

  • 5-8 years of hands-on experience in aerospace test environments.
  • Full understanding of test operations with ability to work very independently.
  • Can work on all flight hardware and easily maintains certifications.

Level IV:

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with aerospace/space test and production.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and experience mentoring others.
  • Self-motivated with exceptional attention to detail and strong communication skills.
  • Experience creating tasks, interfacing with engineering, and prioritizing work independently.

Level Placement

Candidates will be placed at Level III or Level IV based on experience, leadership capability, and interview performance. Level III technicians work independently with minimal supervision and have full test operations expertise. Level IV technicians additionally demonstrate leadership and mentorship, interface directly with engineering, and create/prioritize their own tasks. Level IV is the pathway to Lead Technician positions.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with spacecraft or propulsion system testing.
