What is Testing, Adjusting and Balancing?
Testing, adjusting and balancing (TAB) is a systematic process carried out on heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) and environmental systems to document and achieve design requirements and/or optimum system performance. This process consists of taking measurements and making adjustments pertaining to various parameters within a system, such as but no limited to – airflow, water flow, temperature, pressure, electrical current (amperage), and electrical potential (voltage). These parameters are typically based upon the specified design parameters provided by a mechanical design engineer or architect. Upon the completion of field work, the TAB contractor submits a written report which accurately and concisely summarizes the work performed along with any notes and/or deficiencies identified throughout the project.
