DESCRIPTION

The Student Assistant will review applicant files for completeness, enter data accurately, and prepare files for the next stage of processing. They will also contact applicants to request missing information or documents. Through this role, the student will develop transferable skills in technology, communication, decision-making, and professionalism.

DUTIES

Data Entry and Verification Duties:

• Enter applications
• Assist in collecting supporting documentation from applicants
• Provide clerical support, including scanning, filing, copying, printing, binding, and contacting applicants by phone and email
• Request email notifications
• Use Excel spreadsheets
• Review eligibility for funding
• Perform other duties related to the responsibilities listed above

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Interest in reports, research, accounting, and technical communication
• Basic knowledge of tax statements
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills
• Organized and detail-oriented
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Reliable attendance
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Self-starter
• Professional work ethic

Qualifications:

• Must be a current UHD student
• Accept the Work-Study Award for the current school year
• Be able to work 15-20 hours per week
• Be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester
• Be a freshman or have a 2.5 GPA
