Parkinson Society Singapore operates Singapore’s only Parkinson Centre, offering therapeutic programmes and activities to improve the lives of Persons with Parkinson and their caregivers. They promote awareness, education, and holistic support for the Parkinson community.

Job Summary

You will assist physiotherapists in supporting and supervising members during therapy/ social & movements sessions, manage equipment and member data, and gradually lead classes independently to enhance members’ well-being.

Responsibilities

Conduct and accurately record blood pressure measurements & other requisite exercise stats for members

Set up therapy equipment to prepare for sessions

Assist physiotherapists/ instructors in guiding members through exercises safely and effectively

Monitor members during therapy sessions to ensure their safety and well-being

Develop skills to independently run therapy classes over time

Perform accurate data entry and retrieval to maintain member records

Create, file, and maintain an organized members’ database

Follow up with members to support their ongoing therapy needs

Clean therapy equipment regularly and as needed to maintain hygiene

Conduct routine equipment checks and assist with infection control measures

Perform additional duties assigned by physiotherapists/ instructors to support therapy delivery

Preferred competencies and qualifications

WSQ Certificate in Therapy Support or relevant healthcare certificate

Experience caring for Persons with Parkinson or relevant experience in a similar role

Proficiency in English and one other language (Mandarin, Malay, or Tamil) to facilitate communication with diverse members

Ability to converse in local dialects is an added advantage

Basic computer skills in Microsoft 365 to manage data and communications

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a team

Service-oriented attitude with a focus on patient care and support

Minimum GCE ‘N’ or ‘O’ levels educational qualification

Set up in 1996, PSS offers numerous programmes for People with Parkinson and their caregivers, such as physiotherapy, speech therapy and other therapeutic programmes, as well as activities like Tai Chi, yoga, kickboxing, calligraphy, karaoke singing, caregiver workshops, emotional freedom techniques, etc., all aimed at improving the lives of People with Parkinson and their caregivers. Our mission is to promote awareness and understanding of Parkinson and related disorders by educating patients, caregivers and their communities, and by supporting them holistically in their journey with Parkinson.
