• you will play a crucial role in the safe navigation and operation of a sea-going vessel
• Working as part of the ship's deck department, you will be responsible for various navigational and operational duties, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and maintaining a high standard of safety at all times
• Key Responsibilities:Navigation and Watchkeeping:Stand regular watches on the bridge to ensure the vessel's safe navigation
• Plot and monitor the ship's course, speed, and position
• Take appropriate actions to avoid collisions, grounding, and other navigational hazards
• Safety Compliance:Ensure strict adherence to international maritime regulations and safety protocols
• Conduct regular safety drills and training for the crew
• Maintain familiarity with emergency procedures and equipment
• Communication:Maintain communication with other vessels, port authorities, and shore-based personnel
• Use radio, satellite, and other communication equipment effectively
• Cargo Operations:Oversee loading and unloading operations, ensuring proper stowage and securing of cargo
• Monitor cargo handling equipment and report any issues promptly
• Ship Maintenance:Participate in routine maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs of deck equipment
• Assist in the upkeep of life-saving and firefighting equipment
• Navigational Equipment:Operate and maintain navigational and communication equipment, such as radar, GPS, and sonar
• Troubleshoot and report any equipment malfunctions
• Record Keeping:Maintain accurate navigational logs and records
• Prepare and submit required reports to relevant authorities
• Crew Training:Assist in the training and development of junior deck officers and crew members
• Provide guidance on navigational techniques and safety procedures
