Tier 2 Network Engineer

About the role

DCConnect Global is seeking a skilled and dedicated Tier 2 Network Engineer to join our Networks & Systems Administration team. This is a full-time position based at our office in KL Eco City, Kuala Lumpur. As a Tier 2 Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting, maintaining, and optimising our network infrastructure. You will be responsible for resolving complex network issues, implementing network solutions, and ensuring the reliability and performance of our systems. This role offers the opportunity to work with modern networking technologies whilst contributing to the operational excellence of DCConnect Global.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor network performance and health, identifying and resolving issues that impact system availability and user experience
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for network connectivity, configuration, and hardware issues escalated from Tier 1 support
• Configure, deploy, and maintain network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and other network equipment
• Implement and maintain network security protocols and access controls to protect network infrastructure
• Document network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures to maintain comprehensive knowledge bases
• Collaborate with network architects and senior engineers to design and implement network improvements and upgrades
• Perform scheduled maintenance tasks, including system updates, patches, and backups
• Assist in capacity planning and performance optimisation of network systems
• Support the deployment and configuration of VoIP, WAN, and other specialised network services as required
• Respond to and escalate critical network incidents in accordance with service level agreements

What we're looking for

• Relevant qualification or certification in networking, such as Cisco Certified Associate (CCNA), CompTIA Network+, or equivalent
• 1–3 years of experience in network administration, support, or engineering roles within an IT services or corporate environment
• Strong technical knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, routing, switching, and network security principles
• Hands-on experience with network configuration and management tools, including command-line interfaces
• Proficiency with network monitoring and diagnostic tools such as Wireshark, PingPlotter, or similar applications
• Experience with firewalls, VPNs, and network access control systems
• Knowledge of cloud networking concepts and hybrid network architectures is desirable
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
