Tier 4 Systems Engineer / Project Engineer

About the Role

IBEX Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Tier 4 Systems Engineer / Project Engineer on behalf of one of our Managed Service Provider (MSP) partners .

This senior-level role focuses on complex infrastructure engineering, project delivery, advanced escalations, and solution design across multiple client environments. The ideal candidate can independently lead technical projects from discovery and design through implementation and handoff.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the final technical escalation point for complex infrastructure and systems issues that cannot be resolved by Tier 1–3 teams.
• Design, implement, and troubleshoot IT environments across multiple MSP client environments.
• Lead infrastructure projects including server deployments/migrations, Microsoft 365 and Azure projects, virtualization, cloud migrations, network upgrades, and security initiatives .
• Develop technical designs, implementation procedures, project documentation, and rollback plans.
• Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, Azure, VMware/Hyper-V, storage, and backup/DR environments.
• Support advanced networking including firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, routing, switching, and wireless .
• Implement security, identity, and system-hardening best practices.
• Use PowerShell or other scripting/automation tools to improve efficiency.
• Perform root-cause analysis and develop long-term solutions for complex technical issues.
• Work directly with clients, vendors, and internal engineering teams on technical projects and escalations.
• Mentor Tier 2/Tier 3 engineers and contribute to technical standards and documentation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of overall IT infrastructure experience.
• 4+ years of MSP experience is required , supporting multiple client environments.
• Experience working as a Tier 3/4 Engineer, Senior Systems Engineer, Project Engineer, or Consulting Engineer .
• Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure, VMware/Hyper-V, networking, firewalls, backup/DR, and security .
• Proven experience leading infrastructure projects from planning through implementation .
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, documentation, and project management skills.
• Experience with PowerShell or automation .
• Strong client-facing communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
