Timber Grader

We are seeking candidates to grade timber and assist with operating our newly installed Bin sorter.  These hands-on roles will require you to work within a team, operate machinery to achieve production targets, and maintain quality outputs. You will have experience in structural and/or appearance grading and machine operation.

Tumu Timbers Ltd is a progressive Hawkes Bay wood processing business, locally owned and operated. Our team culture is positive and enthusiastic with an emphasis on Health and Safety, Quality and Customer Service.  We are based in Longlands, Hastings.

Both dayshift and nightshift positions are available:

Dayshift:   5.00am – 3.30pm, Monday to Friday – 50 hours per week

Nightshift:    3.30pm - 2.30am, Monday to Thursday and 3.30pm – 12.00am on Friday - 50 hours per week.

To be successful in this role you will need:

• A proven record of reliability and attendance at work
• To be mechanically minded and experienced in timber grading and machine operation
• Proven experience in grading timber to the standard NZS 3631:1988 , an advantage would be to have achieved L3 in Timber grading and optimising.
• To be health and safety focused
• To enjoy working in a team and have good communication skills
• To enjoy physical work as some manual handling is involved
