Tinter – Industrial Coatings Job Summary

The Tinter is responsible for accurately adding and adjusting colorants to base coatings to match customer color standards or color chips. This role involves operating tinting equipment, recording data, and ensuring every batch meets color specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Color Matching & Tinting: Precisely weigh and add colorants to base paint according to work orders or formulas. Mix using blending equipment until the color matches the standard color chip or sample.
• Quality Control & Inspection: Use a spectrophotometer or visual comparison to check samples against standards and identify slight color variations. Record tinting formulas and colorant additions to ensure batch traceability.
• Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Operate tinting machines, mixers, and scales. Clean equipment between color changes and perform routine maintenance. Keep the work area clean and organized.
• Production Support: Assist with pouring, filling, labeling, and occasionally moving materials with a forklift or pallet jack. May work with QC, R&D, or sales to resolve on-site color issues.

Requirements & Skills

• Experience: Requires previous experiences in manufacturing, paint tinting, or color matching.
• Core Abilities: Must be able to distinguish colors accurately, require passing a color vision test. Able to read formula sheets and perform basic math (percentages, ratios).
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for long periods and repeatedly lift materials up to 50 lbs (about 23 kg). Able to work in a factory environment with exposure to chemical odors and noise.
• Soft Skills: Detail-oriented and able to follow written procedures. Basic communication skills and ability to work in a team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
