Tool & Die Maker

Job Summary:

We are seeking for an experienced Tool & Die Maker to join our team at our metal stamping manufacturing facility. The Tool & Die Maker is responsible for designing and creating tooling to be used in punch press machines to manufacture custom metal parts.

Responsibilities:

• Study blueprints or specs to plan sequences of operations to fabricate tooling for custom metal parts production.
• Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes and tolerances based on specs.
• Set up and operate lathes, mills, grinders and in some cases program Wire EDM or CNC machines to cut, bore, grind and shape dies to prescribed dimensions.
• File, grind, shim and adjust dies to properly fit them together.
• Conduct machine test runs with completed dies to ensure that parts meet specs and make all adjustments as necessary.
• Verify dimensions and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specs, using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, etc.
• Repair/sharpen tooling as needed.

Education and Training:

• This position requires a minimum, to have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. PMS may substitute “the” education requirement with “equivalent” experience.
• Requires intermediate/advanced mathematical skills. These skills can be supplemented with on-the-job training.
• Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to follow verbal and written instructions well.
• Must be able to stay on task while standing or sitting for long periods and be adaptable to a changing work environment.
• The candidate may be exposed to machine noise and varying temperatures.
• Must be able to perform repetitive motions and must have strong finger dexterity.
• Qualifications/Skills: Intermediate to Advanced Math Skills, Traveler/Blueprint/Drawing Reading, Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Detail Oriented, Professionalism, Strong Attention to Detail and Follow Through, Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills, Able to Follow Verbal and Written Instructions.

Technical Requirements:

The Tool & Die Maker is required to read and understand information as it relates to job responsibilities. This includes procedures and documents that relate directly to the tooling processes.

The candidate should have the ability to interface with company personnel at all levels.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
