Tool & Die Maker

Job Summary

The Tool & Die Maker (Tool & Die Tech) is responsible for maintaining and keeping dies and roll form tooling in a production-ready status, capable of producing quality parts daily. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and building dies, fixtures, templates, and gaging. Additionally, the technician performs routine maintenance and other assigned tasks to support general plant operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs extensive die maintenance such as rebuilding die sections, retrimming pads and forms, and executing engineering changes on all types of dies.
• Develops, maintains, and upgrades fixtures and gages.
• Demonstrates good short- and long-term decision making in the following areas: - Press-room Troubleshooting, Problem Identification and Solution, Tool Room Repair and Maintenance Work and Tool Room Machining Practices
• Determines specifications for work inspection, utilizing a full range of precision measuring and gauging tools before, during, and after machining.
• Sets up and operates machine tools (such as lathes, milling machines, Blanchard, and surface grinders) to machine parts and verify conformance to specifications.
• Lifts machined parts and safely positions/secures them on surface plates or work tables.
• Maintains a valid hi-low license certification and performs daily operations using the equipment.
• Keeps the work area clean, safe, and organized.
• Upholds a strong work ethic

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 2–3 years’ experience in Tool and Die

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay: $33.00 - $38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 45.0 per week
