What they need

Role Overview

The Tool Designer is responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and validation of injection moulds, blow moulds, press tools, or stamping dies. This role bridges product concept and physical manufacturing by creating robust 2D/3D tooling assemblies, defining parting surfaces, runner/gate systems, cooling circuits, and ejection mechanisms while ensuring high dimensional accuracy and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Mould & Tool Design: Create complete 3D tool assemblies and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings for multi-cavity injection moulds, blow moulds, or forming dies using CAD software.

DFM Analysis: Perform Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews on product components, analyzing draft angles, parting lines, wall thickness variations, undercut management, and shrinkage factors.

Tooling Mechanics: Design runner and gating systems (hot runner/cold runner), cooling layouts, sliders, lifters, guide pillars, and ejection mechanisms.

BOM & Specifications: Generate comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOM) for standard mould bases, core/cavity inserts, tool steels, guide components, and fasteners.

Shop-Floor & Toolroom Coordination: Collaborate directly with CNC machinists, EDM/Wire EDM operators, and toolmakers during machining, benching, assembly, and trial phases.

Troubleshooting & Optimization: Analyze T0/T1 trial samples, identify defects (sink marks, flash, warpage, short shots), and execute necessary tool modifications and engineering change orders (ECOs).

Requirements & Qualifications

Diploma or B.E. / B.Tech in Tool Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, CIPET (DPMT/PD-PMD), or NTTF.

3–6 years of hands-on experience in plastic injection mould or die design.

Mastery of CAD/CAM software: PTC Creo, Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or CATIA.

Familiarity with mould flow simulation software (e.g., Moldflow, Moldex3D) is an advantage.

In-depth knowledge of tool steels (P20, H13, NAK80, 2316), heat treatment processes, and standard mould components (Hasco, DME, Misumi).

Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month

Benefits:

  • Paid time off
