Tool Hook-Up Engineer – Semiconductor Projects

About the role

We are seeking a Tool Hook-Up Engineer to coordinate new installations and modifications of semiconductor equipment utility connections. This role covers planning, design review, tender support, construction supervision, commissioning and handover for water, electrical, gas, chemical and exhaust systems.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate tool hook-up projects for new equipment installations and modifications.
• Liaise with process equipment teams to consolidate utility requirements, connection points and installation interfaces.
• Participate in concept and detailed design, ensuring utility connections meet equipment and production requirements.
• Review contractors' P&IDs, MLD drawings, piping isometric drawings and method statements for compliance with applicable standards and facility utility interface requirements.
• Prepare tender documents and technical specifications, and coordinate work package tendering and contractor appointment.
• Verify incoming materials against approved brands, specifications and quality requirements.
• Conduct site surveys and oversee installation progress, workmanship and environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance.
• Coordinate contractors and relevant stakeholders to resolve technical issues and unexpected site problems, ensuring timely equipment readiness.
• Lead completion inspections and acceptance, and ensure as-built drawings and handover records are collected and archived.
• Coordinate utility turn-on, commissioning and subsequent operation and maintenance support.

About you

• Diploma or above in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, HVAC Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of tool hook-up installation experience in electronics manufacturing facilities or cleanrooms.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and BIM tools.
• Familiar with specialty gas, bulk gas, pure water, wastewater and other facility utility systems.
• Able to plan and coordinate specialty gas, chemical, pure water, exhaust and electrical connections based on equipment requirements.
• Able to interpret engineering drawings and review installation methods and technical specifications.
• Strong site coordination, troubleshooting and contractor management skills.
• Proficiency in spoken Mandarin is required for technical coordination with Mandarin-speaking project teams and China headquarters.
• Ability to communicate in English will be an added advantage.
