Tool Room Engineer

Core Roles and Responsibilities1. Tool Inventory and Stock Management

• Inventory Control: Maintain an accurate digital or register-based log for all cutting tools (inserts, end mills, drills, taps), tool holders, fixtures.
• Reorder Levels: Track minimum stock levels (reorder points) for consumables and spares to prevent stockouts that halt CNC production.
• Physical Verification: Conduct regular audits and stock reconciliations between actual tool room inventory and system records.

2. Tool Pre-Setting and Coordination with CNC Production

• Tool Assembly & Presetting: Assemble cutting tools, measure tool height/diameter offsets using a tool presetter, and issue ready-to-use tool assemblies to CNC/VMC operators.
• Life and Wear Monitoring: Track tool life (via component count, cycle time, or wear limits) and coordinate timely re-grinding, re-tipping, or replacement.
• Production Support: Coordinate with CNC shift in-charges to supply urgent replacement tools or troubleshoot unexpected tool breakage.
