Tooling Engineer

One of our manufacturing clients is seeking an experienced Tooling Engineer to join their team located near Weyauwega, WI. Pay Rate: $80-$90K

Responsibilities

• Work with tooling engineers to design and build mold and core box tooling.
• Create layouts for multiple-cavity tooling.
• Design cores and print areas based on casting requirements.
• Use 3D CAD software such as PowerShape, Inventor, Creo, or NX to modify models.
• Support CAM designers with model information for CNC programming.
• Work with Disamatic, Laempe, CB, D75, and other core and molding equipment.
• Create build and assembly drawings for the pattern shop.
• Help determine tooling rework and repair methods.
• Recommend process improvements and new tooling technologies.
• Train employees when needed.
• Order materials and supplies as required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related experience, including CNC machining and 3D CAD experience.
• Ability to create 3D models from 2D drawings.
• Knowledge of shrink, draft, offsets, and parting.
• Understanding of pattern and parting offsets.
• Ability to calculate material requirements from model information.
• Ability to compare 3D models with 2D casting drawings for accuracy.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
