Tooling Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW

Manage the tooling process and ensure its compliance with documented specifications and requirements.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Work under the supervision of the Tooling Department Head.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and develop tools as per product configuration and applicable specifications.
• Communicate with relevant departments and tooling suppliers to ensure that the tools are built to MFI and customer requirements and specifications, are within the budgeted cost, and are completed on time.
• Ensure tooling identification and traceability.
• Ensure tooling rework is performed according to drawing(s) and/or customer requirements when tool rework is needed.
• Ensure proper use, preservation, and maintenance of tools.
• Visit tooling suppliers for onsite follow-up and tool tryouts, as applicable.
• Work with Quality and Production to prevent or address issues related to tooling.
• Perform other duties as may be requested by the Department Head and/or top management.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quality, or Manufacturing, preferred.
• Minimum of a High School diploma or GED required.
• Two to five (2-5) years of experience in a related field of expertise, preferably in the Aerospace Manufacturing industry.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks (preferred) or equivalent CAD software.

KNOWLEDGE

• Knowledge in Production processes, procedures, and techniques to ensure proper product realization.
• Knowledge in identifying customer requirements to flow them down internally and to suppliers.
• Knowledge in general mathematical principles, techniques, and practices relevant to calculation, measurement, data collection, and statistical analysis.
• Knowledge in general computer applications applicable to the job.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Personal computer, including word-processing, database and spreadsheet programs; calculator, telephone, copy, and fax machine.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
