Toolmaker

Key responsibilities :

• Design and fabricate precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures according to technical specifications and blueprints
• Operate and maintain various machine tools including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drilling equipment
• Inspect and test completed tools to ensure they meet required quality standards and dimensional tolerances
• Troubleshoot tool failures and perform preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications accurately
• Collaborate with production teams to optimise tool design and improve manufacturing processes
• Maintain detailed records of tool production, maintenance activities, and equipment performance
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards in all work activities
• Continuously improve tool designs and manufacturing techniques to enhance productivity

What we're looking for :

• Proven experience as a Toolmaker or similar precision manufacturing role, typically 3-5+ years in the field
• Advanced proficiency in operating CNC and conventional machine tools with high precision capabilities
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, tolerances, and metrology
• Expertise in reading and interpreting technical drawings and CAD blueprints
• Excellent hand-tool skills and familiarity with precision measurement instruments
• Knowledge of materials science, including metals and their properties
• Problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and precision work
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Physical capability to perform manual labour and stand for extended periods
• Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to quality standards
• Relevant technical certifications or vocational qualifications in toolmaking or machining are advantageous
