What they need

Make Complex Equipment Run Like New

As our Top Drive Systems Rebuild Lead Technician, you’ll be the go-to expert in the shop for advanced diagnostics, precision repair, and full rebuilds of top drives and related drilling equipment. You’ll set the bar for safety and quality while guiding the work of others and keeping jobs moving efficiently.

A day in the shop

You start by reviewing a complex work order on a top drive that’s been flagged for inconsistent torque. After reading through detailed schematics and technical documentation, you isolate a hydraulic control issue, confirm the fault through electrical and mechanical tests, and lead the tear-down and rebuild. Along the way, you coach junior techs on best practices, document improvements to the process, and ensure every step complies with our safety and quality standards.

What you’ll do

  • Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and complete rebuilds on top drives and drilling equipment.
  • Lead complex jobs, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to lower-level technicians.
  • Identify process improvements and recommend best practices to elevate shop performance.
  • Maintain shop workflow, prioritize tasks, and uphold rigorous safety and quality standards.
  • Handle additional duties as assigned by management.

Must-have qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); technical training preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with drilling equipment or oilfield tools.
  • Proven advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic capability.
  • Deep knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex schematics and technical documents.

Core skills you’ll use every day

  • Mechanical troubleshooting and component repair
  • Industrial electrical systems, installation, and repair
  • Hydraulic systems and component service
  • Equipment diagnostics and fault isolation
  • Electrical schematic reading and documentation
