Role Description This is a contract, on-site Tour Guide role based in Ahmedabad. The Tour Guide will lead individuals and groups on city and cultural tours, providing engaging commentary on local history, culture, landmarks, and festival experiences. The role involves welcoming guests, conducting pre-tour briefings, ensuring traveler safety and comfort, and coordinating logistics such as timing, meeting points, and transitions between activities. The Tour Guide will answer questions, offer recommendations, and provide high-quality customer service that reflects Walk Another Mile’s focus on immersive, memorable travel. The position may also include supporting sales conversations on-site, collecting feedback from travelers, and collaborating with the operations team to refine itineraries and experiences.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Guided Tours skills, including leading groups, managing itineraries, and delivering engaging on-site experiences.
• Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills, with clear spoken English and local language proficiency, and the ability to present information confidently to diverse audiences.
• Candidates should possess Customer Service skills, including empathy, patience, and the ability to respond to traveler needs and resolve issues professionally.
• Candidates should possess a solid understanding of local History and culture, with the ability to share accurate, compelling stories about Ahmedabad and surrounding regions.
• Candidates should possess basic Sales skills, including promoting additional experiences, answering pre-booking queries, and supporting upselling where appropriate.
• Additional beneficial qualifications include prior experience as a tour guide or in hospitality/travel, familiarity with cultural and festival tourism, and strong time-management and organizational skills.
• Comfort working outdoors in varying conditions, the ability to walk for extended periods, and adherence to safety and ethical tourism practices are important.
• A relevant diploma or degree in tourism, hospitality, history, cultural studies, or a related field is an advantage but not mandatory.
