What they need
Costa Rica Destination is a boutique agency crafting immersive travel across Costa Rica, connecting visitors with the country's rainforests, volcanoes, wildlife, and wellness retreats. Our team builds tailored journeys for international guests who value authentic, responsible tourism, and we take pride in personal service at every stage of the trip.
We have an opening for a Tourism Management Intern. This is a 7-month remote position structured for academic credit, beginning with a month of onboarding into our destinations, systems, and partner network, followed by six months of practical work coordinating trips and supporting travelers directly. We ask that candidates be comfortable working in both Spanish and English and able to begin promptly.
Responsibilities
Itinerary Coordination: Help build and organize custom travel plans — tours, lodging, transport, and activities matched to each guest's interests.
Vendor & Partner Relations: Coordinate with hotels, guides, and transport providers to confirm reservations, discuss pricing, and keep service running smoothly.
Guest Experience: Assist travelers before and during their trips with questions, local recommendations, and attentive support throughout their stay.
Operations & Logistics: Support daily booking operations, keep reservation records current, and resolve scheduling issues as they come up.
Destination Research: Keep up with Costa Rican regions, seasonal offerings, and emerging eco-tourism experiences worth recommending.
Quality & Sustainability: Help keep tours aligned with responsible tourism practices and the company's standards for safety and guest care.
Administrative Support: Handle confirmations, documentation, invoicing, and accurate recordkeeping across bookings and partners.
Requirements
Detail-oriented and organized: Juggling multiple itineraries takes precision. You keep track of the small things without letting them slip.
Strong communicator: You'll speak with guests and partners daily, so clear and friendly communication in Spanish and English matters.
Problem solver: Plans shift constantly in travel. You stay calm and find workable solutions fast.
Passion for hospitality: Our name rests on great guest experiences, and you genuinely want to make trips memorable.
Availability: Around 20 hours weekly, fully remote, with some flexibility during busy travel seasons.
