Tower Climber and SCADA Technician (Carlsbad, NM)

The Tower Climber and SCADA Technician is responsible for safely erecting and installing gear. This position requires a safety-conscious, customer-facing, goal-driven professional to understand and install communications industries such as Oil & Gas and Utilities, for multiple locations and/or projects. Technicians repair, install or maintain mobile or stationary radio transmitting, broadcasting and receiving equipment, and two-way radio communications systems used in telecommunications, mobile broadband, and ground-to-tower communications. They may also test and analyze network coverage.

Location

Based near Carlsbad or willing to travel to Carlsbad/Loving, Artesia, or Hobbs for work.

Travel

Most travel is local to the service area, however there are some situations that require travel outside of the service area.

Pay Rate

$27-$35/hour ($52k-$60k/year) depending on experience. Increases available with additional certifications.

Technician Will Need To Understand

• CRR TotalSCADA safety policies and procedures
• Importance, timeliness and principles of communications and SCADA systems
• Basic principles of communications and tower climbing
• Willingness to work and contribute to team goals and deadlines
• Importance of timely issuance of materials to customer’s job orders
• Importance of entering time charges promptly (i.e. twice a week) and accurately
• Results-oriented and focused
• Ability to think critically and operationally
• Ability to multi-task
• Must be able to self-manage and work with a sense of urgency

Education & Experience

• High School diploma or GED required
• 2+ years of tower climbing experience required
• Experience with TSheets (beneficial)
• Experience with mobile inventory and related software
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)

Responsibilities Include

• Follow company safety policies and procedures at all times
• Work to understand process and technologies in order to improve data communications
• Climb communication towers to install, replace, or repair antennas or auxiliary equipment used to transmit and receive radio waves
• Install and secure equipment into place, using hands or power tools
• Inspect completed work to ensure all hardware is tight, antennas are level, hangers are properly fastened, proper support is in place, or adequate weather proofing has been installed
• Install necessary transmission equipment components, including antennas or antenna mounts, surge arrestors, transmission lines, connectors, or tower-mounted components
• Lift equipment into position, using cranes, capstan hoist and rigging tools
• Perform maintenance or repair work on existing tower equipment, using hands or power tools
• Ability to listen and prioritize customer inquiries and demands
