What they need
Step Into the Field as a Tower Crane Field Maintenance Specialist
Before sunrise, you arrive on a busy build where a tower crane anchors the day’s production schedule. Your first move? A thorough inspection—electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical—so crews can lift with confidence. By midday, you’ve chased down an intermittent control fault using schematics and diagnostics. Before you leave, you log every action and coordinate with site supervision to align tomorrow’s maintenance around critical lifts. That’s a day in this role—hands-on, safety-first, and essential to keeping major projects on track.
What You’ll Tackle
- Own routine inspections and preventive maintenance across tower crane systems: electrical circuits, hydraulics, and key mechanical assemblies.
- Diagnose issues using technical manuals, wiring diagrams, meters, and hands-on testing to pinpoint root causes quickly and accurately.
- Repair or replace components—motors, brakes, transmissions, suspensions, and air brake systems—to restore peak performance.
- Execute advanced electrical troubleshooting and repairs on crane control systems, always to OEM specifications.
- Fabricate and fix with confidence: hand and power tools, welding gear, and soldering skills for assemblies, repairs, and modifications.
- Maintain meticulous service records, maintenance logs, and safety documentation per industry standards.
- Partner with construction teams to coordinate crane operations safely during maintenance or installation work and high-stakes lifts.
What You Bring
- Demonstrated background as a heavy equipment technician/mechanic focused on construction machinery upkeep.
- Broad mechanical know-how spanning cranes, excavators, forklifts, tractors, trailers, and related industrial equipment.
- Comfort reading schematics and troubleshooting electrical systems and components.
- Hands-on ability with hydraulic repair, welding, alignment procedures—and exposure to HVAC systems is a strong plus.
- Capability to execute heavy lifting safely with proper equipment; a current heavy equipment operation certification is preferred.
- Working knowledge of diesel engine diagnostics and repair within construction equipment.
- Resourceful problem-solver with a customer-service mindset supporting internal teams and external clients.
Field-Centric Work
This is a field position—your work happens at customer and job sites rather than at a single facility. You’ll be based within driving distance of the territory, and travel varies by assignment. Project-specific details are provided for each job.
