Laborer Operator

Sugarcreek Township Stark County, located in Beach City, Ohio is currently seeking a dependable Laborer Operator to join the team. Reporting to the Road Superintendent and the Board of Trustees, the Laborer Operator will play an important role in performing a variety of unskilled or semi-skilled maintenance work and operating various equipment for the upkeep, construction, repair, and maintenance of township roads, facilities, and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform basic and advanced manual labor to clear, maintain, and repair township roads, ditches, and culverts. This includes plowing snow, patching, and mowing.
• Drive, operate, and maintain township equipment including dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, mowing tractors, and chain saws.
• Assist the township Road Superintendent in performing the above activities and other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License.
• REQUIRED: CDL-Class B with air brakes license.
• Willingness and ability to undergo a pre-employment background check and drug test.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Experience in road, storm pipe, and curb maintenance and repair.
• Background in public park maintenance, landscaping, and mowing.
• Experience operating snow removal and landscaping equipment.

Physical Requirements:

• This position involves frequent physical activity, including bending, lifting, carrying, and operating heavy equipment.
• The ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, and snow.
• Must have the physical strength and stamina to lift and move heavy objects, perform repetitive tasks, and work on uneven terrain.

General Working Conditions:

• Work hours may vary slightly, but are primarily from Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm.
• Laborer Operator must be available for snow removal and emergency duty on a 24/7 basis as required.
• Overtime pay is applicable.
