What they need

Kaplow Services is hiring Tractor Operators for the upcoming 2026–2027 winter season in Greater Sudbury.

Operators are assigned their own route, but our crew works together during larger snow events to ensure all routes are completed efficiently.

What to Expect

Snow removal is weather dependent, so this is not a traditional Monday–Friday schedule.

Operators must be prepared for:

  • Early morning, overnight and weekend shifts
  • Shifts of varying lengths depending on snowfall
  • Multiple snow events within a short period of time
  • Working during active snowfall and winter weather
  • Extended shifts during significant storms when required
  • Training procedures

Operators must have dependable availability when snow events occur throughout the winter season.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a tractor equipped with snow removal equipment to clear residential driveways
  • Complete an assigned residential snow route/assigned properties safely and efficiently
  • Follow digital routes using a company-provided tablet
  • Exercise care when operating around homes, vehicles, curbs, landscaping and other obstacles
  • Perform basic pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections
  • Identify and report equipment concerns or maintenance requirements
  • Keep equipment reasonably clean and ready for the next snow event

Experience & Qualifications

Previous tractor, loader, heavy equipment or snow removal experience is strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate:

  • Is confident operating equipment in tight residential areas
  • Has experience operating tractors and/or other heavy equipment
  • Understands safe snow removal practices
  • Is dependable and available when weather conditions require service
  • Can work independently and manage an assigned route
  • Is comfortable working early mornings, overnight and in cold winter conditions
  • Can safely work around customers, vehicles and property
  • Has basic mechanical knowledge
  • Has a valid driver's licence and reliable transportation to and from work

We value experienced operators and are looking for people who can become a dependable part of our winter crew. Compensation will reflect experience and ability.

Seasonal Position

This is a seasonal, weather-dependent position for the 2026–2027 winter season. Hours will vary based on snowfall, weather conditions and unforeseen job opportunities.

If you're an experienced equipment operator or have a basic understanding of equipment operation and are eager to develop your skills, and you're comfortable with the flexible schedule that comes with winter snow removal, we'd like to hear from you.

Job Type: Seasonal

Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
