Trade Assistant

Baaz Custom Woodworks Limited is looking for a reliable and hardworking Trade Assistant to support our tradespeople with general construction, installation, material handling and site maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Load and unload building, construction and workshop materials, tools and equipment.
• Transport materials, tools and equipment around work sites and work areas.
• Assist tradespeople with the preparation and completion of construction, maintenance and installation work.
• Erect and dismantle temporary structures, barricades and other temporary site equipment as required.
• Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete, plaster and mortar.
• Assist with demolition and other general construction activities using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Use ladders and other access equipment safely where required.
• Clean and carry out minor maintenance work on drains, channels and other site infrastructure.
• Assist with inspecting work areas and identifying cracks, leaks, damage or other issues and report these to the supervisor.
• Dig holes and trenches and load excavated materials onto wheelbarrows, conveyors or trucks for removal.
• Spread and level soil, gravel and sand on roads, driveways, trench bottoms and other work areas.
• Assist with assembling and installing piping, valves, fittings and related components.
• Assist with installing fixtures and fittings, including toilets, wash basins and sprinkler systems, under the direction of qualified tradespeople.
• Keep work areas, tools and equipment clean, organised and safe.
• Carry out general site clean-up and disposal of construction waste.
• Follow all workplace health and safety requirements, instructions and company procedures.
• Operate hand tools and basic equipment safely and responsibly.
• Perform other general trade-support duties as directed by the supervisor.

About You

The successful applicant will:

• Be reliable, punctual and physically fit for manual work.
• Have a practical and hands-on approach to work.
• Be able to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
• Have good attention to safety and detail.
• Be willing to undertake a range of construction, installation and general maintenance tasks.
• Previous experience in construction, building, carpentry, maintenance or a similar environment will be an advantage.
