Trade Services Associate

Role Overview
This position manages the daily execution and verification of complex import and export trade transactions. Beyond processing operations, the role plays a key part in regulatory reporting, user testing for system upgrades, and mentoring junior staff to maintain high service standards.

Core Responsibilities

• Trade Operations and Settlements

  • Process and verify import and export Letter of Credit (L/C) applications, issuances, and amendments.
  • Handle import and export bills, as well as initiate and settle related trade loans and acceptances.
  • Issue and redeem shipping guarantees, non-trade bonds, financial guarantees, and standby L/Cs according to bank standards.

• Reporting and Data Management

  • Prepare monthly trade outstanding reports for designated corporate clients.
  • Collate data for official banking returns and other management information system (MIS) requirements.

• System Projects and User Testing

  • Act as the operations representative for trade system projects and technological upgrades.
  • Write business requirements and run hands-on user acceptance testing (UAT) for system modifications.

• Leadership and Client Assistance

  • Train, coach, and support junior team members regarding operational workflows and system navigation.
  • Provide backup operational assistance to customer service representatives when transaction volumes peak.

Candidate Qualifications

• Practical background in banking operations, specifically within trade finance transaction handling.
• Solid grasp of trade instruments including L/Cs, bills, and standby letters of credit.
• Experience with user testing, system workflows, or business requirement documentation.
• Strong communication skills with an aptitude for coaching colleagues.
