JOB DESCRIPTION: TRADE TESTED ELECTRICAL ARTISAN

Position Title: Trade Tested Electrical Artisan
Department: Technical / Electrical
Reports To: Project Manager / Site Manager
Employment Type: Permanent / Project-Based, as applicable
Location: Various Project Sites

1. JOB PURPOSE

To perform electrical installation, maintenance, repairs, testing and fault-finding activities across construction projects and company facilities. The Electrical Artisan is responsible for ensuring that all electrical work is performed safely, efficiently and in accordance with applicable technical standards, project specifications and company procedures.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Install, maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment.
• Carry out electrical work in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
• Conduct electrical testing and fault-finding.
• Diagnose and rectify electrical faults.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and technical specifications.
• Install electrical cables, distribution boards, equipment and associated components.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality and compliance.
• Assist with testing, commissioning and handover activities.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a safe condition.
• Report defective equipment, unsafe conditions and electrical faults.
• Work closely with other artisans, supervisors and construction teams.
• Comply with all Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
• Maintain accurate records relating to maintenance and electrical work.
• Perform any other reasonable duties within the scope of the position.

3. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualification:

• NTC qualification or Matric.
• Recognised Electrical Trade Test certificate.
• Minimum of 9 years' relevant post-trade-test experience.

4. TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

• Electrical installation and maintenance.

• Reading and interpretation of electrical drawings.
• Knowledge of electrical equipment and components.
• Knowledge of applicable electrical safety requirements.
