Trader

The Trader is responsible to support trade strategies & initiatives by conducting market research and monitoring market trends and conduct all processes of trade initiation (from initiating relationships to hedging against price drops) to anticipate, adapt, and earn profit from market-moving events related to G&O.

The incumbent will posses’ strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of market trends, and the ability to make a quick informed decisions in a high-pressure environment.

The trader plays a critical role in optimizing profitability while ensuring reliable supply and market penetration.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Market Analysis

• Conduct research on market trends, factors, and conditions that affect related commodities (e.g. weather conditions and foreign exchange rates).
• Monitor market trends, economic data, and industry news to identify trading opportunities.
• Perform technical and fundamental analysis to inform trading decisions.
• Perform trade execution data analysis (e.g. broker due diligence, execution measurement, performance tracking, and accountability).

Risk Management

• Monitor and manage trading positions to ensure they align with risk parameters.
• Proactively mitigate potential losses and adhere to pre-defined risk limits.

Collaboration and Customer Relationships

• Set schedule and terms for commodity shipping to ensure prompt and accurate shipping per requirement.
• Conduct trade initiation processes (such as maintaining supplier and/or client relationships, negotiating price/sales terms, overseeing logistics arrangements, and recording cost of transactions) based on applicable procedures.
• Develop new business opportunities with existing clients.
• Provide financial and investment advice for clients.

Reporting and Documentation

• Prepare reports related to G&O trade activities, such as trade recap on trade execution conducted the day before, daily broker statement, monthly P&L report – trade, P&L purchase and sales recap for management and all related parties.
• Maintain detailed records of trades, market conditions, and performance metrics.
• Provide regular update to the Vice President, G&O and COO, G&O.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in trading, financial analysis, or a related role with at least 2 years in commodities trading.
• Commodity market knowledge – understanding of commodity markets and key growing cycles of agricultural commodities and impact on business cycles.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with people at all levels of the business.; build appropriate rapport, uses diplomacy and tact.
• In-depth understanding of financial markets and trading instruments.
• Dealing with Ambiguity - Ability to adapt quickly to changing market conditions; can shift gears comfortably; can comfortably handle risk and uncertainty.
• Negotiation abilities – Can settle differences with minimum noise, able to gain trust quickly of other parties to the negotiations; has a good sense of timing.

• Informing – Is timely with information; provide information to Manager so that they can make accurate decisions; provide information to other team members need to know to perform their roles and responsibilities.
