Job Purpose and Impact

The Trader will be responsible for managing the Corn and Pulses trading book across the PAN-India region, generating income while effectively controlling risk through physical commodity trading activities. This role serves as the key link between the Origination and Trading teams, ensuring seamless coordination, trade execution, contract compliance, and operational excellence. The position will also oversee export flows to Bangladesh, ensuring smooth execution of export processes, risk management, and customer fulfillment while identifying and capturing market opportunities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage and execute the Corn and Pulses trading book across the PAN-India region, balancing profitability and risk exposure.
  • Execute and monitor short-term trading strategies and positions for assigned commodities, including both speculative and hedged positions.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator between Origination, Trading, Logistics, Operations, and other internal stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of trades.
  • Oversee end-to-end trade execution activities, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment of contractual obligations.
  • Ensure contract compliance and accuracy throughout the trade lifecycle, proactively identifying and mitigating execution risks.
  • Manage export flows to Bangladesh, including coordination of export documentation, logistics, shipment execution, and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor and manage trading, execution, counterparty, and operational risks associated with domestic and export transactions.
  • Reconcile routine and complex profit and loss estimates and reports, applying knowledge of trading practices and procedures.
  • Track customer activity, competitor movements, supply-demand dynamics, and industry trends to identify business opportunities.
  • Conduct market analysis and gather market intelligence to support trading decisions and business development initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of sales and trading strategies, identification of new customers, and growth of existing customer relationships.
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision while escalating more complex matters as appropriate.
  • Support continuous improvement of trade execution, risk management, and operational processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Agriculture, Economics, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 6–8 years of relevant experience in commodity trading, preferably in grains, corn, pulses, or agricultural commodities.
  • Proven experience managing physical commodity trading activities and trade life-cycle management.
  • Strong understanding of trade execution processes, contract management, logistics coordination, and supply chain operations.
  • Knowledge of export trade processes, export documentation, regulatory requirements, and cross-border trade execution
  • Demonstrated experience in commodity risk management, including price risk, execution risk, counterparty risk, and operational risk management.
  • Strong analytical, commercial, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and coordinate effectively across origination, trading, logistics, operations, and finance teams.
  • Other minimum qualifications may apply.
