What they need

Trade Supervisor

Location: High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire

Remuneration: Competitive salary + Company Van & Fuel Card

Synergize delivers planned and reactive works to Service Family Accommodation across the MOD estate as part of the VIVO contract. When a property is handed back, it has to be surveyed, turned around and brought back to standard so the next service family can move in - on time, first time, and to a fixed specification.

The Void Coordinator / Scheduler sits at the centre of that process. You will own the diary: sequencing trades, booking works, chasing materials and keeping every void moving from handback to handover. It is a fast, high volume role where the difference between hitting and missing turnaround targets is usually down to how well the schedule is built and how quickly problems are spotted.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Trades Supervisor to lead and supervise trade operatives delivering retrofit, remediation and decarbonisation works across assigned sites. You will be accountable for the standard of workmanship on site, ensuring every measure is installed correctly, safely, and in line with programme, specification, and PAS 2030/2035 requirements.

Reporting to the Site Manager, you will take hands-on, day-to-day responsibility for allocating works, briefing operatives, and checking quality as works progress. You will supervise directly employed trades, apprentices, agency labour and subcontract trades across disciplines such as insulation, carpentry, roofing, plastering, decorating, and associated builder’s work, ensuring works follow approved design information and manufacturer installation requirements.

As the trade-facing lead on site, you will be accountable for workmanship quality, safe systems of work, housekeeping, and the conduct of operatives working in occupied homes. Your role will be key to right-first-time delivery, reducing snagging and callbacks, and ensuring works are fully evidenced and audit-ready.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the day-to-day activities of trade operatives, apprentices, agency labour, and subcontract trades on assigned sites
  • Allocate and sequence daily works, ensuring operatives have the correct information, materials, access, and equipment before starting
  • Brief and set out works in line with approved designs, specifications, and manufacturer installation requirements
  • Carry out in-progress and completion quality checks on all trade works, capturing photographic evidence at key stages, including works that will later be concealed
  • Ensure all operatives are inducted, RAMS briefed, competent, and hold valid cards or qualifications for the works they undertake
  • Deliver toolbox talks, task briefings, and on-site coaching to raise standards of workmanship and safe working
  • Identify and correct poor workmanship at source, managing snagging and rework ahead of handover
  • Monitor output, productivity, and quality against programme, reporting progress, risks, and defects to the Site Manager
  • Ensure correct storage, handling, and installation of materials in line with manufacturer guidance and warranty requirements
  • Maintain accurate site records, including allocation sheets, daily diaries, toolbox talks, permits, QA checks, photos, deliveries, and waste records
  • Support compliance with PAS 2030/2035, TrustMark, Building Regulations, and client specifications
  • Monitor and enforce health, safety, and environmental standards across all trade activities, including PPE, working at height, hot works, dust control, and asbestos awareness
  • Stop works immediately where standards, safety, or quality are compromised, and escalate appropriately
  • Support the development of apprentices, trainees, and multi-skilled operatives through mentoring and on-site skills assessment
  • Represent the business professionally in occupied homes, maintaining safe access, protecting resident property, and minimising disruption
  • Support the Site Manager and RLO/CLO with resident queries, appointments, and defect resolution
  • Attend site meetings, audits, inspections, and client walkarounds, providing accurate updates on progress and quality
  • Raise early warnings regarding risks related to safety, design, access, materials, programme, or quality
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by feeding back on repeat defects, buildability issues, and lessons learned

About You:

  • Time-served in a core trade (e.g. carpentry, plastering, insulation, roofing, or multi-skilled) with proven experience supervising others
  • Experience supervising trade teams within retrofit, remediation, refurbishment, or maintenance works
  • Experience working in occupied homes, live environments, or public sector schemes
  • Strong understanding of multi-measure works (e.g. insulation, ventilation, roofing, windows, doors, and associated builder’s work)
  • Working knowledge of PAS 2030 and PAS 2035 delivery requirements, or willingness to be trained
  • Confident reading and working from drawings, specifications, and design information
  • Proven ability to manage workmanship quality, snagging, and rework to a right-first-time standard
  • Strong health and safety awareness, with the confidence to challenge unsafe or poor practice
  • Ability to maintain site records, QA documentation, and photographic evidence to audit standard
  • Excellent communication skills, with a professional and respectful approach to residents and clients
