Traffic Control Flagger

Overview

Join our dynamic construction team as a Traffic Control Flagger, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and smooth flow of traffic around roadway construction zones and civil infrastructure projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors on diverse road construction sites, helping to protect workers and motorists alike. As a Traffic Control Flagger, you will be responsible for directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic, setting up safety equipment, and maintaining compliance with all safety protocols to create a secure work environment.

Responsibilities

• Safely direct traffic around construction zones using hand signals, flags, signs, and portable traffic control devices.
• Set up and take down traffic control barricades, cones, signage, and warning lights in accordance with project plans and safety standards.
• Communicate clearly with construction crews and motorists to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent accidents.
• Monitor work zones continuously to identify potential hazards or unsafe conditions, reporting issues promptly.
• Adhere strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and local traffic control guidelines.
• Assist with the installation and maintenance of heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and front loader trucks when required.
• Support roadway construction activities including paving, heavy lifting, welding, and use of power tools while maintaining safety protocols.
• When not flagging, you will be ground personnel assisting construction.

Qualifications

• Prior outdoor work experience in construction or civil infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment operation including dozer, loader operation, backhoe operation, grader operation, paving machinery, dump trucks, and front loader trucks.
• Mechanical knowledge combined with experience handling hand tools and power tools for various construction tasks.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle manual tasks efficiently in outdoor environments.
• Familiarity with road construction processes such as highway maintenance and roadway projects.
• Understanding of safety procedures related to traffic control for work zones and construction site safety protocols.
• Valid driver’s license with commercial truck driving experience is a plus but not mandatory.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
