Trainee Accountant

An opportunity has arisen at our growing accountancy practice for a Trainee Accountant to begin their professional journey. This is a long-term role with structured support to complete the AAT qualification, and progress onwards to ACCA studies.

We’re looking for someone with a genuine interest in accountancy who has already commenced their AAT studies. While prior work experience is not essential, a proactive attitude and willingness to learn are crucial.

The role will also involve liaising with customers, so strong communication skills are essential.

We are looking for a quick learner who actively takes ownership of their professional development. Additional independent reading and study are voluntary, but can help broaden your technical knowledge and support faster progression as your experience develops.

Job Description

Initially you will learn and become proficient in the following areas:-

• Bookkeeping
• Payroll processing
• VAT return preparation
• Records management
• General office duties

As you gain experience, you will progress to:

• Preparation of accounts for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies

Candidate Requirements

• Must already be studying AAT (minimum entry requirement)
• Strong communication skills - both written and verbal
• Diligent and methodical approach to work
• IT literate and comfortable with online/cloud-based software
• Prior accountancy or admin experience is beneficial but not required

Additional Information

• This position is subject to a probationary period
• Salary is dependent on age and experience and will comply with National Minimum Wage legislation
