Trainee Accounts Assistant

Start your accountancy career with our friendly team in Welwyn Garden City. For 25 years we’ve supported businesses, particularly in construction and property. Now we’re looking for someone keen to learn on the job while working towards their AAT Level 3 qualification with Solveway Apprenticeships, with a clear path to becoming fully qualified.

No experience needed, just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

The role
Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with day release for your studies with Solveway Apprenticeships.

What you’ll do
● Bookkeeping: data entry, uploading receipts and invoices into Xero and QuickBooks, and helping with bank reconciliations.
● Admin: gathering documents for VAT returns and keeping client files and systems up to date.
● Accuracy: following our processes, spotting missing information and learning the regulations as you go.
● Team player: supporting our accountants on client work and sharing what you learn so the whole team benefits.
● Client support: helping clients understand what we need and why, in plain English.

What we’re looking for
● A positive attitude and genuine interest in accountancy.
● Someone who enjoys being part of a team and helping others.
● Good attention to detail and happy to ask questions.
● Confident talking to people, or keen to build that confidence.

What you’ll get
● A fully supported AAT Level 3 Apprenticeship, delivered with Solveway Apprenticeships, with day release for your studies.
● A clear path to becoming a qualified accountant: we’ll support you through AAT Level 4, and beyond that to Level 7 through either the ACCA or CTA route.

Pay: £15,600.00-£24,784.50 per year
