Are you looking to start a career in a skilled trade?

A J Taylor is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Trainee Air Conditioning Engineer to join our growing HVAC department.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to learn a trade, gain valuable hands-on experience and develop a long-term career within the air conditioning and building services industry.

Previous air conditioning experience isn't essential. We're looking for someone with the right attitude, a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in developing new skills.

A J Taylor is an established electrical and building services contractor based in Brighton, working across Sussex and the wider South East.

We employ over 100 people across our electrical, HVAC, fire & security, renewables and other specialist departments.

The Role

You'll work alongside our experienced Air Conditioning Engineers, learning how to install, service, maintain and repair air conditioning systems.

You'll gain practical experience working on a variety of commercial and domestic projects, with ongoing guidance and support from our team.

As your skills and confidence develop, you'll gradually take on more responsibility, working towards becoming a fully qualified Air Conditioning Engineer.

What You'll Be Doing

• Assisting engineers with air conditioning installations.
• Learning how different air conditioning and ventilation systems operate.
• Helping with servicing and planned maintenance.
• Assisting with fault-finding and repairs.
• Learning how to use tools, equipment and testing instruments safely.
• Supporting engineers with materials and site preparation.
• Maintaining clean and safe working areas.
• Completing training and working towards relevant industry qualifications.
• Developing an understanding of health and safety procedures.

What We're Looking For

You don't need previous experience in air conditioning, but you will need:

• A genuine interest in engineering, construction or building services.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Good timekeeping and reliability.
• The ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• Good communication skills.
• A practical, hands-on approach to work.
• A desire to develop a long-term career.

A full or provisional UK driving licence would be advantageous.

Previous experience in construction, electrical work, plumbing or another practical trade would be beneficial but is not essential.
